About CarBuyerKit

Helping Car Buyers Understand the Real Cost Before They Buy

CarBuyerKit provides independent calculators and guides that help U.S. car buyers understand vehicle taxes, title and registration charges, dealer fees, trade-ins, and out-the-door costs before signing a deal.

Why CarBuyerKit exists

A vehicle advertised at one price can cost more after taxes, title charges, registration, dealer-controlled fees, trade-in treatment, and state-specific rules are applied. Those costs are often spread across agency guidance, fee schedules, and the buyer's order.

CarBuyerKit brings the supported pieces together so buyers can understand the likely cost earlier, compare estimates, and ask clearer questions before reaching the dealership. The goal is clarity—not criticism of dealers or a substitute for an itemized final quote.

What you can do with CarBuyerKit

How our information is researched

Research prioritizes primary sources: state motor-vehicle agencies, departments of revenue or taxation, statutes and regulations, official fee schedules, and government forms or guidance. Pages show verification information where appropriate because state rules and published amounts can change.

If official sources conflict or do not clearly support an amount, the difference is disclosed rather than silently guessed. Calculators use deterministic, state-specific code for their supported inputs; they do not generate an answer with AI at runtime. The result is still an informational estimate, not a guaranteed official assessment.

Read the Editorial Policy for source and correction standards, and the Calculator Methodology for calculation scope, assumptions, and exclusions.

Independent, not official

CarBuyerKit is independent. It is not a DMV, government agency, dealership, lender, insurer, or tax authority. No partnership, government endorsement, or professional credential is implied. Calculator results are planning estimates that buyers should compare with current agency guidance and written transaction documents.
