Florida Title Transfer Fee Calculator

Florida title-transfer cost depends on the title path, plate or registration situation and transaction details. This calculator estimates supported title and registration-transfer charges—not the total cost of buying the vehicle. Florida sales or use tax may apply separately.

What This Florida Title Transfer Calculator Includes

The estimate can include an ordinary Florida title or supported out-of-state title path, lien recording when selected, the late-title amount when the application is more than 30 days after purchase, and either an eligible Florida plate transfer or a supported full-registration path.

  • Ordinary Florida or out-of-state title fee
  • Lien recording when applicable
  • Late title application amount when applicable
  • Eligible ordinary Florida plate transfer
  • Private-auto registration, new plate and $225 Initial Registration Fee where supported

It does not estimate specialty plates, fast title, paper title delivery, unusual vehicle classes or other case-specific service charges. It also does not include vehicle sales tax.

Supported title paths

Florida Vehicle Title Fees

The ordinary supported Florida title amount is $75.25. The supported out-of-state title path is $85.25. The correct path depends on the existing title and transaction details; these are not the only costs that could apply in every title transaction.

If a lien is recorded, the supported lien amount is added separately. Use the Florida TTL Calculator when you need supported purchase tax, title and registration in one estimate.

Timing matters

Late Florida Title Application

The calculator adds the supported $20 amount when you indicate that the title application is being made more than 30 days after purchase. It is shown as a potential additional government charge, not as part of the ordinary title amount.

If the timing or transaction is unusual, confirm the required paperwork and final amount with FLHSMV or the appropriate Florida tax collector.

Different registration paths

Florida Plate Transfer Versus New Registration

An eligible existing Florida plate can follow a different cost path from obtaining a new plate and full registration. The full-registration path reuses the verified Florida Registration Fee Calculator, including the $225 Initial Registration Fee and $28 new metal plate only when the selected facts require them.

Source-method note: FLHSMV Form 83140 currently lists $4.10 for the supported ordinary valid-plate transfer scenario. Florida Statute §320.0609 contains a $4.50 transfer-fee provision and classification-related rules. CarBuyerKit does not apply those additional or cross-classification paths unless the transaction is supported by this calculator.
