Florida Out-the-Door Price Calculator
The advertised price is not always the total paid for a vehicle. This calculator combines the selling price with supported Florida tax, title, registration, plate costs, entered dealer charges and optional products. Financing interest, lender charges, insurance and unsupported costs are not added automatically.

What Out-the-Door Price Means in Florida
Out-the-door price, often shortened to OTD price, is the estimated total transaction price before subtracting buyer financing credits. It combines the agreed vehicle price with supported taxes, title, registration, plate costs and charges entered by the user.
OTD price is not the same as the amount remaining to finance. Cash down and net trade equity can reduce the amount remaining, but they do not change what the vehicle transaction costs in total. A lender may also add interest or other charges that this Florida OTD calculator does not estimate.
Calculation method
How Florida Out-the-Door Price Is Calculated
The calculator builds the estimate in a visible order so you can compare it with a dealer quote:
Vehicle selling price + taxable dealer-required charges + taxable accessories + other entered dealer charges + optional products + Florida vehicle tax + county surtax + title + registration and plate costs = estimated OTD price
Florida state tax and county surtax are supplied by the existing Florida Car Sales Tax Calculator. Supported title, registration and plate charges come from the same engines used by the Florida TTL Calculator.
After that total is calculated, the tool separately subtracts net trade equity and cash down to show an estimated remaining amount. That figure is a planning number, not a promised loan balance.
A common point of confusion
Trade-In Value Versus Trade Equity
Trade-in value and trade equity answer different questions. For the supported Florida tax calculation, the qualifying trade-in allowance is the value allowed for the traded vehicle. Trade equity is that value minus the payoff on the trade loan.
Positive-equity trade
- Vehicle price
- $30,000
- Qualifying trade-in allowance used for tax
- $10,000
- Trade loan payoff
- − $7,000
- Net trade equity
- $3,000
In that example, the tax engine uses the supported $10,000 allowance. The $3,000 equity affects the estimated amount remaining.
Negative-equity trade
- Trade-in value
- $8,000
- Trade loan payoff
- − $11,000
- Net trade equity
- − $3,000
Negative equity increases the estimated amount remaining by $3,000. It does not silently rewrite the qualifying trade-in allowance used by the verified Florida tax engine.

Florida Car-Buying Costs to Review
Use the itemized result to compare the advertisement, worksheet and buyer's order. Enter a dealer charge only once. If it is already part of the selling price, adding it again would overstate the total.
Florida has advertised-price rules for mandatory dealer charges, with statutory details and exceptions. The Florida Dealer Fee Checker helps organize those charges without making a legal judgment. You can also review the guides to Florida car sales tax and the $225 Initial Registration Fee.
Florida OTD questions
Frequently asked questions
What does out-the-door price mean in Florida?
It is the estimated full transaction price, including the vehicle price and supported taxes, title, registration, plate costs and entered seller charges, before subtracting cash down or net trade equity.
What fees are included in a Florida OTD price?
This calculator can include supported state tax, county surtax, ordinary title, private-auto registration, the Initial Registration Fee when applicable, plate costs, entered dealer charges and optional products.
Does a trade-in reduce Florida vehicle sales tax?
A qualifying trade-in allowance can reduce the taxable amount. The trade loan payoff affects equity and the amount remaining, not the supported tax allowance.
Does negative trade equity change the out-the-door price?
No. Negative equity increases the estimated amount remaining after the OTD total. It does not change the transaction's OTD price.
Are dealer fees included in this calculator?
Only charges you enter are included. Do not enter a fee separately if it is already included in the vehicle selling price.
Is my down payment part of the OTD price?
No. Cash down is a payment toward the transaction, so the tool subtracts it only when showing the estimated amount remaining.
